Packaging Technologist

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the development, design and manufacture of packaging in the Canadian market.

Create new and or re-design existing packaging products in response to packaging briefs provided by internal state holders. Ensure materials are from approved suppliers, meet specifications and remain within standard costs and or budgets provided.

Work with existing and new suppliers in order to provide Lindt with the highest quality material and design at a competitive price. Must be able to respond quickly to correct material situations with little direction.

DUTIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

  • Plan and develop sustainable packaging materials to support co-pack requirements in order to meet project timelines.
  • Manage packaging information in JDE.
  • Ensure materials comply with company guidelines and approved vendors are used. Monitor quality and vendor performance, non-conformance issues.
  • Maintain good supplier relationships and work towards development of supplier partnerships with key vendors.
  • Monitor trade and marketing developments that can affect costs and supply sources, through industry and supplier contacts, trade publications and supplier visits.
  • Create and provide CAPE (pallet Patterns) to the Master Data team for Inter Company, Co-pack and retail sku’s
  • Maintain Stewardship Data on all consumer package goods.
  • Support implementation of packaging development projects, suggest productivity improvements. Provide support for the NPI process.

Qualifications:

  • University or college degree. Packaging Technology, engineering.
  • Proven track record in Packaging development minimum of 3 years’ experience, preferably in a CPG environment.
  • Experience with CAPE/TOPS, pallet program.
  • Knowledge of Packaging and materials management principles.
  • Knowledge of packaging graphics and printing processes.
  • Strong computer skills, Word, Excel, presentation tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all internal and external organizations
  • A self-starter with an ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform in a demanding dynamic environment
